The Scrivilleri cave has been transformed in recent years into one of the largest caves in Sicily.
Known since the first half of the last century, the cave consisted of about 200m of large and concreted rooms which, in the terminal part, tightened up to be impassable.
The attempts to overcome the last bottleneck followed one another, in alternating phases, for twenty years, until 5 February 2012, the day on which the bottleneck was definitively forced.
The explorations that followed, carried out by various Sicilian speleological groups (Siracusan Speleological Group, Etneo Speleological Center, Speleo Club Ibleo, Speleo Belpasso Group), led to the discovery of two kilometers of environments of inestimable beauty.
